A false balance is an abomination to the Lord,
but a just weight is his delight.

Proverbs 11:1 ESV

Are We Balanced?

In Bible days, they weighed their gold/silver/etc. when they purchased items. This was done to make sure that the customer was not cheating the merchant.  People would often make something look like gold or silver, but it would be made of a different substance.  So, the merchant would weigh the currency to make sure that it was legitimate.  To offer up a payment that was illegitimate is an abomination to God.  He wants honesty in all transactions.

This doesn't just apply to monetary things however.  It is easy for us to remember to pay the correct amount for an item.  Especially in today's society where we don't have to weigh things.  However, how are we at other things in our lives?  God doesn't want us to have a false balance.  Both sides are equally level. If you borrow from your neighbor, do you let them borrow from you?  If you get help from a coworker, do you give them help?  If you promise to do something, do you do it to the best of your ability, or do you do the bare minimum?   Are you honest in your advice or do you have ulterior motives?  Do you present yourself in one way knowing that you are not that way?

God always honors honesty.  We should live our lives completely in the truth, knowing that our truthfulness is God's delight.

WORDS OF WISDOM JOURNAL
If you want to take it further, you can do a Words of Wisdom journal.  Simply make categories (you can add a category whenever you want) and put the Bible verses into the appropriate categories.  For instance, one category might be "Money."  Every time a verse has to do with money, you write it under the category.  As time goes on, you will have a journal of wisdom from the Bible organized in an easy to find way.

Your donation helps me continue to provide Biblically sound devotions and articles, to write books and materials on the body of Christ and how we are to be the body of Christ, and to advocate for the persecuted Church. As a homeschool mom, military spouse, and Bible teacher, your donations are paramount to the continuation of these things.

Thank you so much for any donation you are willing to make!  God Bless!
