Chibok Girls: A Sad Christmas

I am researching names for my book on Nigerian Genocide.  I want to give names and faces to those killed, injured, and kidnapped. Not just numbers.  And believe me, this is no easy task and I will come up woefully short. Unfortunately, these facts are seldom reported; either out of fear or because the media doesn’t want to. Either way, I’m set to try.

As I started typing in all the names of the Chibok girls that were kidnapped, I began thinking and praying…

on and on these thoughts/prayers go through my head.  I look up and see my nativity on my mantle. It hits me.  These girls will be spending Christmas as slaves to Muslim men. They will be experiencing the most horrific things on one of our most holy days (and I am certain that the Muslim men will take note and make Christmas even worse for the girls).  The families will be spending a heartbreakingly lonely Christmas. Some have lost even more relatives to violence and/or trauma due to the kidnappings.

As you spend your Christmas, please take the time to lift up these girls and their families in prayer.  And include the rest of those that have been victimized by Boko Haram. Many of those that survive cannot get medical treatment.  Most of those kidnapped that have escaped do not receive any kind of trauma counseling. Pray for God to touch and heal the way only He can.

Pray for Nigeria this Christmas.
