Again, Asia Bibi’s appeal has not been held. Today was her sixth attempt to have her appeal heard. Again, the complaintant did not not show up.
The judge rescheduled her court appearance for October 16, 2014. According to the judge, there will be no more rescheduling. This is the real deal. We will wait and see.
Meanwhile, Asia has to wait another month in jail before being able to have her voice heard.
Pakistan’s blasphemy laws are heinous. The country is in political turmoil right now. With coups happening, terrorist problems, international pressure on many different angles, etc, it is uncertain what will happen with Asia Bibi’s case.
We must continue to pray for her safety, as well as for her appeal.
We must continue to pray for the safety of her family and that the children will keep faith as their mother struggles in prison.
We must pray for Asia’s legal team. There have been assassination attempts on them. Two of Asia’s supporters have already been assassinated. And these two people had significant political stature.
We must pray that when Asia is released, she and her family are able to find a safe place to live. Someone, some country, or some organization will need to step up and help them find safety.
