How heavy my heart is today.  I decided to start my country profile of Nigeria.  It is a very dangerous place for Christians and persecution is high.  An article showing the voracity of the Christian faith there astounded and inspired me.

Yet as much as I was inspired, I was angered.  I am usually very passionate about Christian persecution issues, but this time, I was overcome with anger and rage.  And not just at the terrorists, but at God.

Boko Haram, a terrorist organization, has been murdering Christians for a while.  Being that I just left my career in terrorism and intelligence, I am very aware of what these people do. Suddenly, it felt very real. It was more than a sad story or a frightening commentary.  It was war.  And I needed to fight it!

How dare God take me out of the fight! I should be helping these Christians! I should be going after these terrorists! That’s what I do!!!

But that’s not where God has me right now.  God has me where He wants me and He has me doing what He wants me doing.  And despite my current state of anger, I love doing this.

But these emotions don’t just go away.  I’m angry. And I feel helpless.  Probably much like Peter felt in the garden.

But isn’t that why God placed me in this position? To bring awareness. To learn how not to be helpless.  To show others how they can help.

So now what? There’s a big burden to be carried. How do I do that job? I’m a nobody.

But I am reminded… God uses nobodies.  He uses those that are unsure. He carries our burdens.  I just have to trust and obey.  Right now, that means I have to write.

Step by step, article by article,… He will lead the way.  He will show me how to proceed.  And through that, I can only pray that His glory be shown and His people protected.  Not my will, Lord, but Thine.

Trust and Obey

1. When we walk with the Lord
 in the light of his word,
 what a glory he sheds on our way!
 While we do his good will,
 he abides with us still,
 and with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
 Trust and obey, for there's no other way
 to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2. Not a burden we bear,
 not a sorrow we share,
 but our toil he doth richly repay;
 not a grief or a loss,
 not a frown or a cross,
 but is blest if we trust and obey.
 (Refrain)

3. But we never can prove
 the delights of his love
 until all on the altar we lay;
 for the favor he shows,
 for the joy he bestows,
 are for them who will trust and obey.
 (Refrain)

4. Then in fellowship sweet
 we will sit at his feet,
 or we'll walk by his side in the way;
 what he says we will do,
 where he sends we will go;
 never fear, only trust and obey.
 (Refrain)
